oh dear god. i was listening to the radio this morning and i heard something that made my heart miss a beat. or maybe i just couldn't hear that particular beat because i was laughing so hard. rumor has it, that today, in etas-unis, is "respect canada day"

i'm sorry? respect canada day? to quote adam sandler "who were the ad genuises who came up with this one?"
so i did a little looking and all i found was this little gem

Respect Canada Day is observed annually on July 15 and is aimed at reminding our Canadian friends that we recognize they are more than a 51st state with a few strange customs.

does anyone really need to hear me go on a rant (tm dennis miller) about this? i honestly do not know where to begin.
