overrated

formerly known as "i make pretty pictures" because as a graphic designer, that is actually what some people think i do for a living, this blog will now be titled, "overrated" for a variety of reasons i do not feel like explaining. the focus will be somewhat eclectic, though sports, design, the arts and pop culture will be featured more and more. because these are the things that interest me.

A test for all to take. Are you addicted to the net?

This was an op-ed piece in our local paper. First noticed by Princess Blog, I have to posted the text in its entirety because its a subscription based.

> Is SARS terrorism? (Apr 25, 2003)
I would like to offer a hypothesis on where SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) came from. I would also like to offer my greatest sympathies to the World Health Organization and health care providers for their current battle against SARS. Continued in next post
I believe that SARS is manmade and was "placed" if you will in a place that the world knows as over-populated -- China. China has the largest population in the world. China has the best possibility of spreading this virus as the population is so dense. China has vast dealings with Canada. Canada is neighbour to the United States. Canada has been one of the U.S.'s greatest allies for many years, although our participation in the Iraqi war is currently limited. Saddam Hussein's government has claimed "they've got things under control," despite what we are seeing from the media. They also have been known to produce bio/chemical warfare agents. It is my humble opinion that what the world is fighting right now is a manmade act of terrorism.

The opinions above are of some crackpot in the Kitchener Ontario area not those of anyone sane.

Line up now for free drugs.
Ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana all yours for a little scientific research.
A bit techy, a bit geeky, but if you are into gaming and gender roles in gaming, this is a pretty cool article. Read it here.
The comments at the end range from hilarious, to "amazed at their stupidity", to "you have a good point", and there's a lot of comments.

I usually don't post long texts like this, but...Let's face it, English is a stupid language. There is no egg in the eggplant. No ham in the hamburger. And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple. English muffins were not invented in England. And French fries were not invented in France. We sometimes take English for granted. But if we examine its paradoxes we find that Quicksand takes you down slowly, Boxing rings are square And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. If writers write, how come fingers don't fing? If the plural of tooth is teeth, Shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth? If the teacher taught, Why didn't the preacher praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, What the heck does a humanitarian eat? Why do people recite at a play, Yet play at a recital? Park on driveways and Drive on parkways? How can the weather be as hot as hell on one day And as cold as hell on another? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy Of a language where a house can burn up as It burns down. And in which you fill in a form, By filling it out. And a bell is only heard once it goes! English was invented by people, not computers. And it reflects the creativity of the human race. (Which of course isn't a race at all) That is why, When the stars are out, they are visible But when the lights are out, they are invisible And it's why when I wind up my watch, It starts. But when I wind up this poem, It ends.

Anything I can do to propagate the moon landing myth/fact.
Don't make any plans for after 2019 cause this asteroid will take care of all that.
Watching this right now on Showcase. Man I love this movie. And after a quick search for a proper site to link to the above, I also found the script, for those who are truly as geeky as myself.
A bit scientific to read but basically says that Chernobyl radiation encouraged two species of worms to take up reproduction of a sexual, as opposed to asexual, manner. Cool.

Great, bush isn't on tv enough, now he has his own iraqi station.

Iraqi currency ain't worth much, but the image of saddam could be.
And what do you think? www.trevorbotting.iq? Are you willing to help fund the new iraqi government?
